Introductory prices

Beyond cosmetic improvements, Tata Motors has invested in significant mechanical enhancements for the Nexon.ev, resulting in an extended driving range. These improvements are complemented by a name change to Nexon.ev, aligning with Tata's new electric vehicle nomenclature

Enhanced range

Compared to its predecessor, the Nexon.ev sees a modest price increase. The entry-level variant's price has risen by Rs 25,000, while the top-tier variant costs Rs 40,000 more

Drawing inspiration from Tata's Curvv concept, the Nexon.ev boasts a redesigned exterior for improved aerodynamics. Additionally, the integration of energy-efficient LED lighting elements contributes to a more efficient power consumption and increased driving range

Design changes

Visually distinguishing itself from the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) Nexon, the Nexon.ev features a single-tone upper nose, a distinctive full-width LED Daytime Running Lamp with charging status indication, and a unique lower bumper design with metallic strakes

Exterior distinctions

While the vehicle's profile remains largely consistent with the pre-facelift model, Tata has introduced new 16-inch alloy wheels to enhance its visual appeal

Unchanged profile

Inside, the Nexon.ev shares its interior design with the updated ICE Nexon. The cabin showcases a layered design with a mix of textures and materials, including carbon-fiber-like trim, soft-touch surfaces, and piano black accents. Notably, the top-spec variant boasts a class-leading 12.3-inch touchscreen display, a two-spoke illuminated steering wheel, a customisable 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with navigation, and touch-based HVAC controls with toggle switches

Interior features

The top-spec Nexon.ev offers an array of premium features, including a 360-degree camera system, wireless smartphone charging, ventilated front seats, an air purifier, fast-charging type-C ports, a single-pane sunroof, a high-quality JBL-branded sound system, voice commands, over-the-air (OTA) software updates, and a new Arcade.ev app suite for added convenience

Additional features

Safety remains a priority, with the Nexon.ev equipped with six airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), front parking sensors, blind-view monitor, three-point seat belts for all passengers, ISOFIX child seat anchors, hill descent and ascent control, all-wheel disc brakes, panic brake alert, and emergency and breakdown call assistance for added peace of mind

Safety

The Nexon.ev is available in two variants, MR and LR. Both variants retain their respective battery sizes of 30kWh for MR and 40.5kWh for LR. Surprisingly, despite unchanged battery sizes, the Nexon.ev now offers even greater driving ranges. The MR variant boasts an ARAI-claimed range of 325km, while the LR variant delivers an impressive 465km on a single charge, both surpassing their previous ranges by 12km

Powertrain and range

Both variants are equipped with a standard 7.2kW AC charger, allowing for 10 to 100 per cent battery charge in 4.3 hours for the MR and 6 hours for the LR. Notably, the Nexon.ev now supports V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) and V2L (vehicle-to-load) charging capabilities, enabling the vehicle to charge other electrical appliances or even another EV

Charging capabilties

The MR variant delivers 129hp and 215Nm of torque, while the LR variant offers 145hp and 215Nm. Notably, the torque output has slightly decreased compared to the previous model, with a 30Nm reduction for the MR variant and a 38Nm reduction for the LR variant. Tata claims a 0-100kph sprint time of 8.9 seconds for the LR, with a top speed of 150kph. The Nexon.ev offers three driving modes (Eco, City, and Sport) and four levels of brake regeneration, which can be controlled using the paddle shifters

Performance

The MR and LR variants are further categorised into three core trims: Creative, Fearless, and Empowered. Each trim presents unique exterior colors and interior upholstery options. These trims also offer optional packages designated by a ‘+’ suffix. While the MR variant is available with all three trims, the LR variant is exclusively offered with the Fearless and Empowered trims. In terms of competition, the primary rival in this segment is the Mahindra XUV400 EV, priced between Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 19.39 lakh (ex-showroom, India)
